Rooted in Responsibility
Rooted in Responsibility
We all want responsible kids who clean up after themselves, think of others and weigh choices that benefit them in the long run. But, according to the research, we aren’t doing our part to help kids learn habits of responsibility. According to a survey by Braun Research, 82%of grown-ups polled said they had regular chores when they were growing up, but only 28% reported asking their children to do any. So while we all want to grow the critical “pitch in” attitude in our kids, are we pitching in to help them learn how to be responsible?
Teaching kids to be responsible is one of the most significant factors in whether or not they will be happy and successful in life, according to Harvard researchers. In this digital social-emotional learning activity kit, we will set your family up for success, and it starts with self-awareness regarding responsible habits and behaviors for the entire family.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING ACTIVITY KIT: Rooted in Responsibility
Here’s what you’ll get:
Brain-splain: The bite-size overview of why responsibility is such an important skill and how, despite the fact that most parents had household responsibilities, research says our parenting style shows otherwise. When you’re done reading this page, you’ll be ready to get to work on building responsibility skills.
Inhale+Exhale: Sometimes we take responsibility to an unhealthy level. It is not helpful to take on more or less responsibility that is yours. In this breathing activity, you’ll focus on what you are responsible for and what you are not to strengthen purpose and connection.
Brain Boost: Responsibility is a major brain builder. When we add in the social-emotional support of a family, we boost brains to the next level. This activity hits all the responsibility checkmarks, but it also helps kids learn delayed gratification, which also builds brains!
Journals: Many households have multiple kids, and adult support is just as crucial as kid support, so we provide three sets of four weekly journals (little kid, big kid, adult/teen) to help your family grow and bond. In this pack, we’re working on boosting all areas of our responsibility skills.
Let’s Talk About It: Tired of asking what your kids feel and think and getting the cold, shrugged shoulder? A set of 12 conversation starters based around responsibility to help you get deeper than how was your day and help open the family communication.
Responsibility Plan: A step-by-step plan to get your family working together with responsibilities. This includes a chore chart and chore activities, as well as parent advice to make it all work smoothly..
Videos: Two short, fun videos - one for you and one for the kids to help explain what’s happening in the brain and how they have the power to make choices that benefit their mental and physical well-being.
